Who we are
Morning Routine is developed and run by Jacob Gendron. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Jacob Gendron. You can reach us at hello@morningroutine.app.
What the app stores
To work, Morning Routine saves the following on your device only:
- Your wake time, the habits in your routine, their lengths and order, and any habits you create.
- Which steps you checked off, kept for about two weeks.
- How you rated each morning, which feeds the calendar.
- Your settings, such as check-in time, weekends off and your "before you head out" list.
None of this is sent to us or anyone else.
Location
Location is optional. If you tap Use my location on the sunrise card, the app asks your permission and reads your approximate location to work out today's sunrise and first light. The calculation happens on your device, and the coordinates are saved on your device so it can show sunrise each day. They are never uploaded. You can turn off location access for Morning Routine (listed as Morning) in your phone's settings at any time.
Notifications
If you choose Ask how my morning went, the app schedules one local notification per day on your device. It is created by your phone, not sent from a server, and you can turn it off in the app or in your phone's settings.
Lock screen widget and Apple Watch
On iPhone, the app shares today's routine with its own lock screen widget, and with the Morning Routine app on your paired Apple Watch, so they can show what's next and let you check off steps. This sharing happens directly between your own devices using Apple's built-in features. It does not pass through our servers.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or tracking services.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
Backups
Your phone's own backup (such as iCloud or Google backup) may include the app's data, as it does for most apps. That is handled by Apple or Google under their privacy terms.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes everything it stored on that device.
Children
Morning Routine is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, at any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
